About Kanji Tango
Kanji Tango finds common dictionary vocabulary that can be written using only the kanji you select.
Data sources
- JMdict and KANJIDIC2, from the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group.
- JmdictFurigana for kanji-to-reading alignment.
- SudachiPy and SudachiDict Core for example-sentence furigana, available under Apache-2.0.
- Jiten Global frequency ranks, available under CC BY-SA 4.0.
- kanji-data for unofficial modern JLPT estimates.
- Tatoeba Japanese-English example sentences, including material from the public-domain Tanaka Corpus. Tatoeba exports are available under CC BY 2.0 FR.
The current data build is jiten-26-08-28-tatoeba-2026-08-29. JLPT sections are third-party estimates: the modern JLPT does not publish official kanji lists.
Privacy
The server stores no user data. Kanji selection live in the URL, so bookmarks work without an account or cookie. Temporary vocabulary and Anki settings use session storage in the current browser tab and disappear when the tab session ends.
